There is good fire & bad fire.
With each summer increasing maximum temperatures, organisations across Australia within rural or urban-bush interfaces need to prepare for the worse. Emergency training and written plans only go so far, consideration should be made on the fauna, which is a fire's fuel around your workplace.
Djarraba has established a employment program to introduce young indigenous Australians into fire management though modern prevention and firefighting methods and traditional aboriginal methods to best care for country, while providing safety to the wider community by reducing bush fire fuel loads.
Where possible, Djarraba hopes to include fire workshops in partnership with Indigenous community groups, open to the public to attend, to educate on the importance of the bush and aboriginal heritage and knowledge.
